When it comes to fitness, many of us want to see results as quickly as possible.

1. Set SMART goals

If you want to see results, it’s important to set goals, as they give you something to focus on.

However, these need to be goals you’ll actually stick to. And the best way to create these realistic goals is by adhering to the following SMART formula:

  • Specific: make sure to clearly define your goals
  • Measurable: set goals that can be measured so that you can objectively see whether you’ve reached them
  • Attainable: don’t set a goal you know you won’t be able to achieve
  • Relevant: make sure your goal lines up with exactly what you want to achieve
  • Time-bound: give yourself a time-frame, as this’ll help you achieve your goals faster

The SMART formula will help you create focused and realistic goals, making them more achievable. This is especially useful when you want to achieve something quickly, as it keeps you on track, allowing you to see faster results. 

2. Start a 6-10 week fitness program

Whilst there’s no real time frame when it comes to achieving fitness goals, it’s been found that people who stick to a consistent work out program tend to see results from 6 weeks onwards.

So, if you want to achieve faster results, it’s a good idea to start a 6-10 week fitness program, as this will help you reach your goals in a timely fashion.

Not only is this a manageable amount of time for a fitness program, but it’s also long enough to actually give you results. 

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, there are lots of free programs you can find online. Alternatively, you can devise your own program, or work with a personal trainer to create a tailored program that’ll help you achieve your goals. 

3. Do what you love

So, it’s important to find a workout that suits you. Whether this be swimming, strength training or Zumba, find something that makes you excited, as this will be more sustainable than forcing yourself to do something you hate.

4. Train with a PT

Working alongside a PT is a great way to achieve your fitness goals. 

PTs do fitness for a living, so they’ll show you exactly what to do to help you reach your goals as quickly as possible.

And don’t fret if you don’t have the cash to spare for a PT session. There are many great online fitness classes you can follow, with a diverse range of workouts to suit any lifestyle.

5. Be consistent

Most importantly, if you want to achieve your goals, you must be consistent.

To see results, it’s recommended that you exercise around 4-5 days every week. Don’t stress though, these don’t need to be hour long sessions. Simply adding a 10-15 minute workout to your routine 4-5 days a week can be enough to notice changes to your body. If you’re able to keep this up and slowly elongate your workouts, then you’ll see results much faster than if you only work out every now and then.

In saying this, it’s perfectly okay to have off weeks where you aren’t as active. As long as you put in effort to exercise 4-5 times per week a majority of the time, you’ll see results much faster. 

6. Find a training buddy

We know that consistency is key, but for some, this is easier said than done. 

So, if you’re someone who needs that extra push, why not work out with a friend?

In fact, it’s been found that exercising with a friend can increase your likelihood of sticking to a workout plan long term

Especially on days where you’re feeling unmotivated, if you have a buddy to drag you out of your slump, you’ll be able to reach your goals a lot faster.
